Dr. Saenton has graduated from Colorado School of Mines, Colorado, U.S.A. in B.S. (Geological Engineering) in 1997 and M.S. & Ph.D. (Environmental Science and Engineering) in 1998 and 2003, respectively. His specialty is in the field of hydrogeology, groundwater modeling, geochemistry and geochemical modeling and remediation of contaminated soils and groundwaters. He joined the Department of Geological Sciences, Chiang Mai University in 2005 soon after completing his Post-doctoral research fellowship at the Center for Experimental Study of Subsurface Environmental Processes (CESEP). His research work has emphasized in environmental hydrogeology in both physical and chemical aspects. The modeling work was not only deterministic, but he also evaluated model’s uncertainty using Monte Carlo and stochastic approaches. Combining Geology, Mathematics and Chemistry together, Dr. Saenton has applied his specialty in assessing and remediating acid mine drainage as well as groundwater aquifers which are contaminated with organic and inorganic pollutants. He is currently an Associate Professor in Geology whose taught courses include both advanced undergraduate and graduate level courses such as Hydrogeology, Contaminant Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, Groundwater Modeling, Environmental Modeling, Contaminated Site Characterization, Geochemistry, Aqueous Geochemistry and Environmental Impact Assessment. He is also an active member of the Thailand’s Association of Hydrogeologist and has contributed several pioneered research related to Thailand’s hydrogeology and geochemistry.
