Assistant Professor Dr. Phonpat Hemwan
Invited Speaker

Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University Thailand


Phonpat Hemwan is faculty at CMU since 2011 and Director of Geo-information and Space Technology Centre Northern Region; GISTNorth, Chiang Mail University in 2013-2022 which has receipted cooperation with MOU form Geo-informatics and Space Technology Office (Public Organization); GISTDA and CMU. His research focuses on Geo-informatics applications with satellite and UAVS data for particulate matter (PM2.5) monitoring, Disaster Risk Management, Natural Resource Management and Sustainable Development. He has founded the social innovation “Anurak Platform”, a digital and geo-spatial technology platform to support mechanisms for participation in conservation and forest expanation through the Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES).

Phonpat Hemwan has received his Ph.D. from Komazawa University, Japan and has worked previously at Director of Geo-information and Space Technology Centre Northern Region, Chiang Mail University.
