Speaker Information


Dr. Joseph Thom
Invited Speaker

M Squared Lasers Ltd., United Kingdom


Joseph attained an MPhys degree from the University of St Andrews and an engineering doctorate (EngD) from the University of Strathclyde for research carried out at the National Physical Laboratory. The main subject of his doctoral research was the development of laser systems for implementing high fidelity quantum logic gates with trapped ions. In September 2016 he joined M Squared Lasers as a Quantum Technology Scientist, where his primary focus is on developing quantum sensor systems for gravimetry and inertial navigation.
